Our Story

Hi! I’m Kimberly Anderson—gal behind Destination Bakery.

I am a daughter, sister, avid book reader and baker! I first started baking when I was 5 or 6 with my older sister in our parents kitchen, throwing together simple box mix recipes with a couple eggs and cup of water. When she moved out for college, I began to bake starting from scratch and basically fell in love.

Since then, I’ve continued to gain experience experimenting with recipes until I found the ones that made me go “Mmm” while doing that one Italian hand gesture.

Come 2020, and it’s my turn to move out. Curious as to what I might want to dedicate the coming years of my life towards, I turned to God and asked Him. He reminded me of my passion for baking, and that you don’t have to get a job you hate to make money, in order to do the things that you love. (I hope that makes sense.) That was it for me. I spent the next months brainstorming and formulating new recipes, perfecting old ones, and dreaming up what is now this bakery.

When it came to picking out a name for what my bakery-baby would be called, I started thinking on the things that I love. I love my family, my friends, books, baking, and amongst a bunch of other things, I love traveling and weddings—specifically, destination weddings.

I love the way they seem to symbolize the epitome of connection and are the thing of all things to bring people together. I love seeing the joy and connection that happens over food (GOOD food) and I love that even though destination weddings may be a little more pricy to attend, they’re still worth spending the extra money to travel to get to. I want to create a place like that.

Somewhere that, even if it’s half way across the world from where you are, would still be worth spending the money to come visit and see.

I want to enrich peoples’ lives with food and bring them together.

Ironically, Destination Bakery is an online-only bakery. Here and now, Destination is still a baby and is still growing, but my dream is to one day be able to open up a store front and create a safe and peaceful place for people to come and hang out (with tasty treats on standby).

SO! Without further ado, thank you for stopping by, and enjoy your stay here at Destination Bakery :)
